Respected Kavitris and Kavis,
The Hindi Samaj of Canberra thanks you for your excellent contribution in making Kavya Sandhya a successful event on 5 July 2008. Your fine poetry kept the audience fully engaged and involved over four hours as evident from the feedback given below. The selection of poetry represented a variety of human emotions- poignant, moving at times and satirical and humorous at other times but always pure joy and bliss to listen.
We would also like to thank you for making time and taking trouble to travel for this occasion.
We hope that we will continue to have your support and the pleasure of listening to your fine poetry in such events in Canberra in future.
With Sincere Regards,
HINDI SAMAJ of CANBERRA
P.S. Here are some of the feedback received so far regarding Kavya Sandhya!!
Dear Kishore & Manish Ji, Many thanks for giving me an opportunity to recite to Canberra audience and modify your program to suite my early leaving. I apologise that I have to leave the hall with out saying proper “Good bye” before leaving Canberra since both of you were busy. While a short visit I and my family felt home. If you have interaction with your audience in future, please convey my special regards to all of them. It is true that Canberra has a very good quality of the audience. Please keep in touch. Regards,
Abbas Raza Alvi
Dear Kishor Ji
Thanks for inviting us on such a wonderful Kavya Sandhya. Congratulations to you and your team on its success.
The poets were good and your compeering was excellent. Manishji and Hindi Samaaj of Canberra obviously worked really hard to make it a memorable event.
I couldn’t write earlier because I was down with fever.
Thanks to you and your team once again.
Kishorji, Namaskar, I would like to say thanks to you and to Manishji for organising the Kavya Sandhya in such an organised way that had all the ingredients to give the traditional flavour resulting into a good gathering of dedicated audience. It was well thought and was indeed a successful Kavya Sandhya.
Both you and Manishji deserve lot of thanks for it. In fact I was going to speak about it on the day but unfortunately, due to other commitments, had to leave early and missed the opportunity to express my self on this aspect.
Your presentation, including kaviyon ka parichaya, inviting them to sit on the manch one after the other and supplementary comments after each one finished on the mike, is praiseworthy but in the process I, and I am sure the others, were deprived of recital of poems by yourself.
Thanks for inviting to the occasion. As verbally advised, it would be good if a video could be made covering the event on 5th July that may be made available to all the interested ones with some fee that may also underpin your expenses on the day. Regards.
Dear Manish ji,
1) the sequencing of events was done very cleverly and it worked well.
2) the stage shows by way of opening prayers and the entertainment were well chosen and well executed. Full marks to the Hindi School teachers for preparing the children so diligently and patiently over so many weeks.
3) the introductory compering work by Lavina and Neeti was excellent. It showed how ‘abhyasa’ …i.e. practice and preparation does actually produces good results.
4) it’d be nice if people showed up on time…but there’s little the Hindi Samaj can do about this. It has to somehow get ingrained in the Indian psyche that punctuality is actually a virtue and is an important element of ‘responsible living’.
5) The poetry recitations by the invited poets as well as by our own Kishoreji provided a good mix of hearty banter and serious commentary on contemporary society. Full marks to the poets.
I’ll be certainly looking forward to the next year’s Kavya Sandhya and offering my assistance in preparing for it and running it. It’s quite remarkable that a group of individuals actually dedicate themselves to organising an evening meant for literature and poetry and manage to engage people of all age groups in it. Regards,
A quick note on the success of Kavya Sandhya. First and foremost I would like to extend my congratulations to you and the team, once again a brilliant evening. The pace, the flow, the quality of this evening clearly managed to surpass last years Kavya Sandhya. I do not have the words to express myself but the mix of comedy, seriousness, patriotism combined to produce a smorgus board of pleasure and joy, I hope you will extend my congratulations to the participants.
On another note the venue, the organisation and even the selection of the outlet delivering the food was exceptional. Please keep up the good work.
In parting a quick request to the community, please take the time to support these initiatives, apathy on our party will lead to the demise of all these activities. After all people organising these do it for us.
Keep up the good work guys. Regards,
I wish to sincerely thank you, Kishor Nagrani and rest of your organising committee to give me an opportunity to recite my poetry at the Kavya Sandhya. This year again the program was very successful and the poetry recited had both components of life expressed in it. It had its funny side expressed, and it had its serious side discussed. Such a combination makes an evening memorable. My sincere congratulations to all of the organisers.
I also wish to suggest that the focus of these evenings should be human life and humanity only. Politics better be avoided.
Congratulations Hindi Samaj, for organising an excellent evening and bringing tons of laughter for a small cost. The Poets (Kavis) engaged the audience thoroughly through out the show with their wit, and humour. The other parts of the show which included cultural items and songs were also very entertaining. Good to see the whole program conducted in Hindi, including compering by Hindi School students. Keep it up !!
Deepak Raj Gupta
All in all the program was excellent and thoughtful, audiences were kept interested till the end. As experts say laughter is the best medicine certainly this was proved right on the evening. I wish Hindi Samaj my best wishes and congratulations on a successful programme. Hard work has been paid off. Kind Regards,
The Kavya Sandhya event organized on the weekend was truly very entertaining. The event was well supported by the kids and credit goes to the organizers who organized such an excellent event. Our special thanks to all the participating Kavis who made the evening really hilarious. I will make special mention of our Kishore ji – who was a class act – both in poetry and compering. I look forward to the next Kavya Sandhya with interest.
Kavya Sandhya was very relishing with full of spicy flavours of India including food. Memories of the past Kavi Sammelan revived. We should organise this programme every year. Congratulations to Hindi Samaj on the great success.
Prabhat and Arti Nagaria
Kavya Sandhya was a very entertaining and thought provoking evening with the poetry recitals of some of the best hindi poets from around Australia. I especially liked the ghazal by Mr Abbas Alvi. Not only is he a very good poet but he is also a very good music composer.
Good, clean, simple and enjoyable program. Program itinerary was well thought off. Please emphasis to your listeners that you don’t need to a scholar to appreciate the program. The MC was maintained the audience interest till the end. Only regret is that I could not translate this appreciation in Hindi.
Kavi Sammelan was a great program. Enjoyed every bit of it. The program was well organized too. I hope you keep doing it every year.
Here are some of the feedback received so far regarding Kavya Sandhya!!
Kavya Sandhya was very relishing with full of flavours of Indian subcontinent. Memories of the past Kavi Sammelan revived. We should organise this programme every year. Congratulations on the great success.

Thank you and all those involved in presenting KAVYA SANDHYA providing your audience with such a wonderful evening. I would say that this was an evening of “Hindi Poetry in Motion” which to me is an excellent effort to make Hindi poetry popular, understood and appreciated in Canberra. All the local and interstate artists conducted themselves with a lot of poise and confidence of course not to mention talent. May good luck continue to follow you! Cheers,
Just a word to convey my appreciation for organising the Hindi Kavya Sandhya on Saturday 09 June. It started on time (well 10 min past 6…but that’s ok) and was well structured. The idea of giving an opportunity for the Hindi School students to perform was very good.
I felt that the dinner came a bit late…considering, there were many senior citizens, we could have had it at 8 pm sharp. Also, a couple of entries in the first half could have been trimmed..the English poem and the Meera bhajan. Since the food was delayed, we left at about 8.40 and I presume there was excellent poetry in the second half…which was expected.
Also, many late-comers were crossing the floor across the stage when a performance was in progress. This was in bad taste and shows a lack of cultural refinement. We could perhaps post someone at the door to divert people to walk thru the back of the hall to the other side to find the vacant seats. Also, there’s the age-old problem of how to keep the children quiet when something like poetry reading is going on….well, there’s no easy solution to this.
As usual, Kishor’s compering was brilliant. I must also make a special mention of the introductions done in Hindi by the Hindi school senior girls…very impressive. Also, the venue couldn’t have been better.
All in all, a very enjoyable cultural show that warmed the heart of every Hindi lover. I only hope our children grab this precious opportunity to learn to speak, read and write Hindi fluently and thus maintain the link with their mother culture. Full marks to you guys for coming up with this idea and executing it so well. Dhanyavaad. Namaste.
Program was organised very professionally with the excellent selection of local and interstate artists. Many thanks to Hindi Samaj of Canberra for organising this and giving us opportunity to witness this show. Regards.
Nidhi and Sameer Gaur
We really enjoyed the evening. It was an excellent program full of entertainment. The Poets (Kavis) engaged the audience thoroughly through out the show with their wit, and humour. The other parts of the show which included cultural items and songs were also very entertaining. It was an interesting evening, providing excellent value for money. The food was delicious. Thank you.
Dear Organisers, Our family thoroughly enjoyed the Kavi Sammelan organised by Hindi Samaj of Canberra and ACT Hindi School as others that attended the function. We appreciate the efforts of the organisers in gathering such a pool of talents from around Australia in the National Capital. It was indeed a pleasurable experience to be in the audience of such distinguished gathering.
Congratulations to Hindi Samaj of Canberra and ACT Hindi School for meticulously organising such an event.
Dear Kishor Ji, Recieved news and photographs, Me and Alok thoroughly enjoyed the event and our stay in Canberra. It was wonderful and successful evening, credit goes to you and your team. Thanks for inviting and entertaining us. Regards.

Dear Kishor and Manish, Well done Keep up the good work. A BIG MATURE thank u from me. Our members had a gala time. Both of u deserve their blessing. Cheers.
“My heartfelt thanks and congratulations to the HINDI SAMAJ team for organising such a heartwarming entertainment on a chilly evening for Canberrans, feeding us poetry (Urdu & Hindi), presentations by the little artists at such a nice venue. Kishor’s compering, Manish family, Neeta’s cuisine and Santosh, Mani and his team’s organisation gives us a chance to ask for “once more.”
In such a busy world where we find it difficult to meet the pressures of life, this team made their best efforts to gather the lcoal artists. It is commendable.” Thanks.
“Kavya Sandhya” was very entertaining and enjoyable event. The poetry was nice to hear. Song and dance performances by the kids, added variety to the evening.
Congratulations to all those closely involved in the making. Regards.
Dear All, Congratulations on the great success of the Kavya-Sandhya on 9 June. It appears from your radio program last night that we missed something. Despite our best intentions to come, we could not make it to the program. But we got the taste from last night’s program. Would love to watch the DVD of the program whenever its ready.
Thank you for all your efforts in organising the Kavya-Sandhya and a great Radio Manpasand program last night (12th June).
To the Organisers of Hindi Kavya Sandhya!
We take this opportunity to communicate our heartiest appreciation for your idea and efforts in organising such wonderful and memorable evening in Canberra. It was an experience, which we had never thought of before going there. The programme has surpassed all our expectations. A big hat on all of you.
After attending the programme and listening the learned poets, we are very much happy and hopeful about the bright future of Hindi as a language. Though we have read many Hindi literature but it was mainly of old writers and poets, but listening to the modern poets was a new thrilling experience and their immaculate presentation is highly remarkable. Looking at the expertise in Hindi language of Australian people, we will not be surprised if in near future people from Australia will go to India to teach Hindi literature, as Indians go to England to teach English.
Please communicate our best wishes to all your poets. We would like to have a copy of programme, can it be arranged? Thanks once again.
Praveen and Deepali Jain
Ek choti si prayatna, hamaari taraf se:
”shanivaar ki shaam thi,
kaviyon ki machi thi shor
bahut khubh adyaksh the
canberra ke kavi kishor
khinche aaye the log
jaise patang aur dor
sab kehte hue chal diye
yeh din lao aur aur “
Please thank the organisers for a rather enjoyable evening. It was fun, it was different and time went quite quickly. Kishor ji ko badhaayi dijiye – for his apt interjections, and keeping what was a difficult agenda under control. And to the others for the smooth organisation of the evening.
Deva and Lakshmi Devanathan
Dear Manish, Namaskar. Jai Hind Jai Bharat. It was a great pleasure to talk with you.
The evening of Sat. the 9th was indeed a great evening. The undersigned had rightly expressed his views in his first poem:-
”Aajki ki hai anokhi Sandhya
Canberra ki anokhi sandhya
Hindi premion ki saloni sandhya
Sarswatiputron ki KAVYA SANDHYA. …”
The entire function was very well organised. Entire audience was deeply involved and they enjoyed fully. All the guest poets were master in their art. They gave their best, specially Subhash Sharma has immpressed me a lot. Rest too were good.
Kishore Nangrani has performed excellent as manch sanchalak of the KAVYA SANDHYA. AS PER MY REQUEST IN MY FIRST POEM IF WE ARRANGE FOR ONE MORE KAVYA SANDHYA ON 14TH SEPT (HINDI DIWAS,) WE CAN MAKE ONE HEALTHY custom to celebrate the day. Just think over it and do give a serious thought over it.
I enjoyed the evening with my entire family and each one of us took full advantage of all the poems read by each one of the guest from Sydney and Melbourne.
Your arrangements too were very nice for which you deserve hearty Congratulations
Rest is best. Keep it up. All the best. Goodluck – Good bye. With love,
Harish Joshi( Uncle)
