Communication from Hindi Samaj Canberra :

Dear Harihar jee,

The Hindi Samaj of Canberra thanks you for your excellent contribution in making Kavya Sandhya a successful event on 9 June 2007. You have a wide variety of poetry ranging from love, romance to humour and satire. The audience was delighted to listen to a sample of your fine poetry.

“Shri Harihar Jha is a prolific poet who presented a fine sample of his poetry of love, romance, humour and satire.  Dr. Shailja Chandra’s poetry and her style of rendition touched the hearts of many in the audience. Her poems ranged from expression of subtle human emotions to the questioning of benefits of India’s lopsided progress. Smt. Rekha Rajvanshi’s poems of  sharp wit and humor touched many aspects of life. Her witty and intelligent play of  words  was relished and savored by the audience. Shri Subhash Sharma regaled the audience with his humorous poetry. His unique observation and ability to see and present daily life matters through a different but interesting perspective raised roars of laughter. A number of local poets also displayed their poetic talents. The program included prayers by the students of Canberra Hindi School, and dances by the students of Apsaras Arts.  An appreciative audience thoroughly enjoyed the program for over five hours. The hugely successful evening, first of its kind in Canberra, was a result of tireless efforts of the Hindi Samaj of Canberra team comprising of Santosh Gupta, Manish Raj, Kishor Nangrani, Sudhir Bhatia, Mani Ramachandran, Basu Banka and their families.”

P.S. Here are some of the feedback received so far regarding Kavya Sandhya!!

Kavya Sandhya was very relishing with full of flavours of Indian subcontinent. Memories of the past Kavi Sammelan revived. We should organise this programme every year. Congratulations on the great success.

Thank you and all those involved in presenting KAVYA SANDHYA providing your audience with such a wonderful evening. I would say that this was an evening of “Hindi Poetry in Motion” which to me is an excellent effort to make Hindi poetry popular, understood and appreciated in Canberra. All the local and interstate artists conducted themselves with a lot of poise and confidence of course not to mention talent. May good luck continue to follow you! Cheers,

Alind Kumar

Just a word to convey my appreciation for organising the Hindi Kavya Sandhya on Saturday 09 June. It started on time (well 10 min past 6…but that’s ok) and was well structured. The idea of giving an opportunity for the Hindi School students to perform was very good.
I felt that the dinner came a bit late…considering, there were many senior citizens, we could have had it at 8 pm sharp. Also, a couple of entries in the first half could have been trimmed..the English poem and the Meera bhajan. Since the food was delayed, we left at about 8.40 and I presume there was excellent poetry in the  second half…which was expected.
Also, many late-comers were crossing the floor across the stage when a performance was in progress. This was in bad taste and shows a lack of cultural refinement. We could perhaps post someone at the door to divert people to walk thru the back of the hall to the other side to find the vacant seats. Also, there’s the age-old problem of how to keep the children quiet when something like poetry reading is going on….well, there’s no easy solution to this.
As usual, Kishor’s compering was brilliant. I must also make a special mention of the introductions done in Hindi by the Hindi school senior girls…very impressive. Also, the venue couldn’t have been better.
All in all, a very enjoyable cultural show that warmed the heart of every Hindi lover. I only hope our children grab this precious opportunity to learn to speak, read and write Hindi fluently and thus maintain the link with their mother culture. Full marks to you guys for coming up with this idea and executing it so well. Dhanyavaad. Namaste.

We really enjoyed the evening. It was an excellent program full of entertainment. The Poets (Kavis) engaged the audience thoroughly through out the show with their wit, and humour. The other parts of the show which included cultural items and songs were also very entertaining. It was an interesting evening, providing excellent value for money. The food was delicious.  Thank you.

Dear Organisers, Our family thoroughly enjoyed the Kavi Sammelan organised by Hindi Samaj of Canberra and ACT Hindi School as others that attended the function.  We appreciate the efforts of the organisers in gathering such a pool of talents from around Australia in the National Capital. It was indeed a pleasurable experience to be in the audience of such distinguished gathering.
Congratulations to Hindi Samaj of Canberra and ACT Hindi School for meticulously organising such an event.

“My heartfelt thanks and congratulations to the HINDI SAMAJ team for organising such a heartwarming entertainment on a chilly evening for Canberrans, feeding us poetry (Urdu & Hindi), presentations by the little artists at such a nice venue. Kishor’s compering, Manish family, Neeta’s cuisine and Santosh, Mani and his team’s organisation gives us a chance to ask for “once more.”
In such a busy world where we find it difficult to meet the pressures of life, this team made their best efforts to gather the lcoal artists. It is commendable.” Thanks.

Dear All, Congratulations on the great success of the Kavya-Sandhya on 9 June. It appears from your radio program last night that we missed something. Despite our best intentions to come, we could not make it to the program. But we got the taste from last night’s program. Would love to watch the DVD of the program whenever its ready.
Thank you for all your efforts in organising the Kavya-Sandhya and a great Radio Manpasand program last night (12th June).

Shubhra Chandra

To the Organisers of Hindi Kavya Sandhya!
We take this opportunity to communicate our heartiest appreciation for your idea and efforts in organising such wonderful and memorable evening in Canberra. It was an experience, which we had never thought  of before going there. The programme has surpassed all our expectations. A big hat on all of you.
After attending the programme and listening the learned poets, we are very much happy and hopeful about the bright future of Hindi as a language. Though we have read many Hindi literature but it was mainly of old writers and poets, but listening to the modern poets was a new thrilling experience and their immaculate presentation is highly remarkable. Looking at the expertise in Hindi language of Australian people, we will not be surprised if in near future people from Australia will go to India to teach Hindi literature, as Indians go to England to teach English.
Please communicate our best wishes to all your poets. We would like to have a copy of programme, can it be arranged? Thanks once again.

Praveen and Deepali Jain

Ek choti si prayatna, hamaari taraf se:

shanivaar ki shaam thi,
      kaviyon ki machi thi shor

bahut khubh adyaksh the
      canberra ke kavi kishor
khinche aaye the log
      jaise patang aur dor
sab kehte hue chal diye
      yeh din lao aur aur

Please thank the organisers for a rather enjoyable evening. It was fun, it was different and time went quite quickly. Kishor ji ko badhaayi dijiye - for his apt interjections, and keeping what was a difficult agenda under control. And to the others for the smooth organisation of the evening.

Deva and Lakshmi Devanathan

Dear Manish, Namaskar. Jai Hind Jai Bharat. It was a great pleasure to talk with you.

The evening of Sat. the 9th was indeed a great evening. The undersigned had rightly expressed his views in his first poem:-”Aajki ki hai anokhi Sandhya
Canberra ki anokhi sandhya
Hindi premion ki saloni sandhya
Sarswatiputron ki KAVYA SANDHYA. …”

The entire function was very well organised. Entire audience was deeply involved and they enjoyed fully. All the guest poets were master in their art. They gave their best, specially Subhash Sharma has immpressed me a lot. Rest too were good.

Kishore Nangrani has performed excellent as manch sanchalak of the  KAVYA SANDHYA. AS PER MY REQUEST IN MY FIRST POEM IF WE ARRANGE FOR ONE  MORE KAVYA SANDHYA ON 14TH SEPT (HINDI DIWAS,) WE CAN MAKE ONE HEALTHY custom to celebrate the day. Just think over it and do give a serious thought over it.
I enjoyed the evening with my entire family and each one of us took full advantage of all the poems read by each one of the guest from Sydney and Melbourne.
Your arrangements too were very nice for which you deserve hearty Congratulations

Rest is best. Keep it up. All the best. Goodluck - Good bye. With love,

Harish Joshi( Uncle)

Dear Manish Ji, Thank you for sending the photos. The Kavya Sandhya program was excellent. It will be remembered by people as a quality program. Organisers have put a lot of effort for its success and their hard work has paid ultimately. My special thank to you, Kishor Ji, Santosh Ji and Basu Ji. Regards,

Harihar Jha

Dear Kishor, Manish and Sudhir, Heartiest congratulations - your program was excellent.

The evening provided me another chance to strengthen my view that literature has no boundaries. It touches every one equally and, as human beings we share the same values.

The poetry that was presented on the evening was thought provoking. It also paved the way to promoting harmony and awareness of the language and culture we share. Please keep up good work.

May I take this opportunity to reiterate that the Bazm-i-Adab Canberra Inc. (Urdu Society of Canberra) is also holding a musical evening blended with poetry on Sunday, 1 July at Majura Community Centre, Dickson. I invite all of your listeners to attend the function and support the Bazm-i-Adab in its attempt to preserve our culture.

Mohammed Ali (Poet and writer)

Secretary, Bazm-i-Adab Canberra and Editor, quarterly Urdu/English magazine, Bunyaad

Dear Manishji and Kishorji and others from Hindi School, Congratulations for KAVYA SANDHYA.

It was well organised function. We have enjoyed very well. Before the start of the program, my wife and other our friends suggested to leave at around 9.00pm, but program was so good that we all stayed till end.  Best kavitas were from Melbourne Kavi Shri Sharamji and also from Rekha ji. Kishorji’s was excellent. It would have been better if we would have given more time to interstate Kavis and  Kaviyatris. In next program. this can be achieved by asking people to tell or sing their own Kavita. Regards,

Prakash Mehta

Dear friends, Kavya Sandhya was definitely a great step forward in the right direction. In order for encouraging greater local participation and enhancing an interest in Hindi, I would urge the Hindi Samaj to organise more of such events. There could be several small level events followed by main events. What clearly emerged though was the interest of people in Hindi Kavita.

I hope that Kavya Sandhya will become a starting point in the life of Canberra community:

Roopsi,

mere sankalpaon ke

himkhandaon par,

na aaparna tum dhoop si.

Regards,

Mohan Singh

    हिन्दी बिल्कुल मर नहीं सकती बशर्ते हम उसे न मारें।
